Hamilton

Description of services

• A charity-based community service that supports transporting people to and from health & wellbeing appointments within the Hamilton city boundary. 
• This service operates Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays). 
• Health Shuttles are staffed by volunteers and donations are welcomed to help cover operating costs.
• Bookings required at least one day in advance. 
• Service operates between the hours of 8.15am and 3.30pm.
• Phone lines are open for booking and enquiries from 8.30am till 3pm weekdays.

Other

• Allow for 30 minutes to 1 hour between pick-up and appointment time.
• Wheelchair accessibility available.

Hauraki

Description of services

• Volunteer Drivers Service
  • Volunteers, using their own vehicles, provide a door-to-door, personalised transport service
  • Clients are picked up at time that suits and taken to their appointment(s). The volunteer driver will wait until the appointment is finished and then drop them home.

• Community Bus
  • Provides local trips each Friday and fortnightly Tuesday trips to Thames for shopping
  • Equipped with a wheelchair hoist
  • Available for community use at other times

Area covered

• Paeroa and outlying rural areas, including Hikutaia, Mackaytown, Netherton
• Clients are typically taken to medical appointments at Waikato or Thames Hospitals, occasionally Auckland.

• Provide transport home for discharged patients as long as it is a reasonable hour.
• Wheelchair available to use on the Community Bus
• Community Bus is available for community use when not in use by the programme
• Approved ACC transport provider

Matamata-Piako

Description of services

• Health shuttle – Available Monday to Friday. 8-seater van with first aid, defibrillator, wheelchair etc. Driver and support person provided. Providing transport to Waikato Hospital clinics, specialist clinics and return. Bookings made at Morrinsville Community House - 07 889 5355
• Donny Van – Available Monday to Friday. Offers transport for the elderly and infirm for shopping, doctors' appointments etc. 8 seater van equipped with a wheelchair hoist. Bookings made at Morrinsville Community House - 07 889 5355

Area covered

• Health shuttle – provides transport from Morrinsville to Waikato Hospital and Hamilton specialist clinics appointments and return.
• Donny Van – within Morrinsville town boundary.

Description of services

• Patients generally phone to make their transport arrangements at least 24 hrs before the appointment date. On the evening prior to travel, the Driver will phone them, advising of their pick-up time.
• There is a Driver and a Support Person in each vehicle and they pick up the patients at their homes and deliver them right to the reception counter of the appropriate Ward, or, Clinic.
• Following the Patients appointment, the Driver, or, the Support Person will collect them from the Ward, or, Clinic, take them back to the mini-bus and deliver them back to their home.
• Transport is provided in 2 x 12 seat & 1 x 8 seat mini-buses, each equipped with a defibrillator, a wheelchair, a comprehensive first aid kit, blankets, vomit bags, water bottles and a fire extinguisher.
• On some occasions, private vehicles are also used.

• Passengers are from the Matamata District. Urban passengers are picked up at their homes, but, due to time factors, most rural passengers make their own way in to town and travel with us from there.
• Most passengers travel to Waikato Hospital and Hamilton Clinics, but, we also transport patients to Thames, Tauranga, Rotorua and Tokoroa Hospitals and clinics.

• Te Aroha Health Shuttle - transporting clients to Hamilton, Thames, Auckland, and locally for health service appointments.
• Door to door return transport to health service appointments; for example specialists, clinics, day surgery and including ongoing regular repeat treatments.
• Hoist vehicle available.

Description of services

• Te Aroha Shopping Bus - weekly service for older community members to get out of the house, socialise, and complete their weekly shopping
• Fortnightly service to Morrinsville and/or Matamata, 9:30am-2pm
• Door to door return transport 

Ōtorohanga

Description of services

• Volunteers use their own vehicles to provide clients with door-to-door transport to Hamilton or Te Kuiti for medical appointments 
• Bookings are required.  Please phone during open hours: 9am-4pm, Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays) 
• Eligibility criteria applies.

Ruapehu

Description of services

• Door-to-door passenger service for the aged, disabled and those with no other means of transport to access medical appointments, shopping, meetings, and well-being functions.
• Vehicle is fitted with a wheelchair hoist.

• 50km radius around Taumarunui, including Mananui, Piriaka, and Mahoe

Other

• On weekends, the van and driver is available for community organisations to use for functions or wellbeing trips.

Description of services

• The 25 Taumarunui bus travels between Taumarunui, Te Kuiti and Otorohanga to Waikato Hospital and Hamilton
• Weekdays only, no services at weekends or public holidays
• This service is a jointly funded initiative with Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Waikato
• If you are using this service to get to an appointment at Te Kuiti, Taumarunui or Waikato Hospitals, your trip is free. Standard BUSIT fares apply to all other passengers.
• Please book your place on the bus through Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Waikato. Details on how to do this will be included in your appointment letter.
• Bring your appointment letter with you to show the bus driver. 
• Priority is given to patients travelling to hospital appointments.

South Waikato

Description of services

• This service operates Tuesday and Thursday.

Description of services

• Call Tokoroa Hospital for the Hato Hone St John Renal Shuttle or the Trikiso bus. These vehicles come from Hamilton to pick up in South Waikato.
• The Renal Shuttle runs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. It starts picking up at 5.30am and leaves the hospital at 1:30pm.
• The Trikiso bus runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays. It picks up around 8.30am and leaves the hospital around 3pm. These services are fully funded by Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora and are free to the user.
• Call Hato Hone St John weekdays 8:30am to 3pm to book the Waka Ora Health Shuttle. This runs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and takes passengers to all Hamilton appointments (not only the hospital) It picks up residents from Tokoroa and Putaruru.
  • The Waka Ora Health Shuttle is a volunteer-run door-to-door service with an 8-seater van
  • On the evening before travel, the drivers check the bookings and organise pickup times based on the first appointment. The shuttle returns when all appointments are finished.

Description of services

• Door-to-door service that operates two vans and two cars, with bases in Putaruru and Tokoroa.
• Transports clients to appointments in Hamilton, Rotorua, Taupo, Matamata, Cambridge and Thames.
• All vehicles carry a wheelchair, and volunteers will accompany clients to the reception areas in the hospital or other service

Area covered

• We take clients to appointments in Hamilton, Rotorua, Taupo, Matamata, Cambridge and Thames.
• We pick up and deliver door-to-door for residents in Tokoroa, Putaruru, Arapuni and Tirau.

Other

• Support people will be transported if room is available.
• Will transport patients discharged from Waikato Hospital to their homes in the South Waikato should a shuttle be present at the time.
• Associated with the Putaruru Red Cross, which has wheelchairs, walkers and crutches for hire.

Thames-Coromandel

Description of services

• The Community Transport Assistance Scheme provides a small fleet of safe and reliable vehicles available for community use. These vehicles are available to hire with a koha.
• Cars are also used by CILT staff to drive community members to local appointments, day programmes, grocery shopping, and volunteer work in the community.

• Upper Coromandel Peninsula - Colville, Port Charles, Papa Aroha, Koputauaki, Kennedy Bay, Whangapoua and Manaia

Additional services

• The Coromandel Resource Centre is a busy 'one stop shop' for residents in the heart of Coromandel Town and upper region of the Coromandel Peninsula, providing information on health and disability services, funding to enable people to attend hospital appointments in Thames and Hamilton and rooms for agencies not located in the area to hold regular clinics.
• CILT also administers NTA funding from Health NZ to assist people with attending specialist appointments, including providing volunteer drivers, pre-paying for travel, and assisting with registration and paperwork.

Description of services

• The Coromandel Community Van provides weekly transport for Coromandel residents to do their shopping and attend appointments in Thames.
• Each Thursday, the van leaves Coromandel at 9am and departs from the Thames Pak'nSave at 2pm.
• Bookings are essential. 
• The van has 9 seats available and is equipped with a wheelchair hoist.

• Medical drivers
  • Clients are picked up and dropped off at home, assisted in and out of the vehicle, and provided companionship during the journey. Volunteers transport clients to medical appointments in Thames, Hamilton, Auckland, and Tauranga, as well as local appointments in Whangamata.
• Community Van Trips
  • Provide transport to cities and towns that offer services not available in Whangamata, such as banks. The trips run fortnightly on Thursdays, departing Whangamata around 8:30am and returning around 4pm. Destinations include Thames, Hamilton, Tauranga and Whitianga.
• Personal Shopping Service
  • Door-to-door service that transports residents to the local supermarket, pharmacy or shops in town. Every Wednesday 9am-12pm.

Description of services

• The 4H Mobility Van Service provides flexible and accessible transport 7 days/week to the local community to access healthcare, social gatherings, appointments, rest home day stays, attend tangi, and other services.
• The van is equipped with a wheelchair hoist.
• Mobility transport supporting families in the region 
• Transport to Sit and Be Fit programmes
• Transport local clients to and from the rest home for day stays
• Transport for the visually impaired group to attended Operatunity concerts in Hamilton 5 times per year
• Reducing social isolation and increasing independence for the mobility limited within the community

Description of services

• The Maniapoto Tautoko Waka has two 7-seater vehicles that provide transportation for tangata whaikaha, tangata whai ora, kaumatua, and others with limited access to do their shopping, get to healthcare appointments, and access essential services.
• Operating hours are 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday. These can be extended on a case-by-case basis with advance notice
